Lesson 8

Student Outcomes
-understand the value of a ratio A:B is A/B
-understand that if two ratios are equivalent they have the same value
-use values of ratios to determine if two ratios are equivalent

Lesson 9

Student Outcomes
- understand that a ratio table is a table of equivalent ratios
-a ratio is used to describe the relationship between two quantities.

In class, we worked a lot with ratio tables. As a class, we found patterns within the tables that made it easier to fill in the missing numbers of the tables.

Lesson 10

Student Outcomes
- identify both the additive and multiplicative structure of a ratio table
-use ratio tables to solve problems pertaining to the table.

In the beginning of class, we talked a lot about ratio tables and how we find patterns. The students were introduced to the vocabulary additive and multiplicative patterns which simply means to find patterns were there is repeated addition and/or multiplication patterns. The students worked in groups to create a poster that displayed a ratio table comparing quarts of blueberries to quarts of strawberries. They were very excited to present to the class at the end. Everyone did an excellent job!

Today the students will be attending Peter Pan, a play at Massena High school. The bus will depart at 10:15 am and will arrive back to school at approximately 1:30 pm.

Lesson 11

Student Outcomes
- solve problems by comparing different ratios using two or more ratio tables.

This lesson will be a continuation of using ratio tables, as we have done in Lesson 10, but adding more than two ratio tables at a time to solve problems. We will continue to look for patterns to help fill in missing components of the tables to answer questions.
